The Great Wall of China
Built from the 3rd century BC until the beginning of the 17th century, in order to protect the various dynasties from raids by Mongol, Turkic, and other nomadic tribes coming from areas in modern-day Mongolia and Manchuria. This must be one of the most awe inspiring things I have ever seen to date. How someone can build something of such great magnitude with their bare hands and with limited resources and equiptment is beyond me.
You look into the horizon and see this great meandering stone snake winding it's way around and over mountain after mountain. The solid line only broken by the stone turrets every few hundred meters. Definately worth the climb and definately worth another visit.
